A few hardy souls (eight people!) came and supported us, and several others made donations. Somehow, we raised £176! Many thanks to everyone who worked so hard to bake cakes, grow plants and man the stalls in awful conditions. Thanks also to Mr and Mrs Wilson for letting us make their lawn very muddy.
However, all was not lost on the fund-raising front as our chairman, Dr Tim Dudgeon, has managed to secure a sizeable donation to our coffers from the Friends of the Health Centre. This is most welcome and will pay for our phone bills, insurance and CRB checks. Many thanks to the Friends.
Open Garden May 10th 2008
A beautiful sunny day, some wonderful attractions and lots of hard work resulted in a record-breaking £1,900 raised at this year's Open Garden event.
This year a huge bric-a-brac stall and an auction helped boost profits alongside the ever-popular cream teas, produce, plants and book stalls. Thanks go to Dave Wills for drumming up over £400 in the auction alone! As ever, grateful thanks to Mr and Mrs Constantine for throwing open their lovely grounds for the event.
Morecare needs to raise funds to cover the charity's expenses which, in order of size, are: public liability insurance, the subsidising of car journeys and CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checks which we are obliged to carry out for all our volunteers.
