Clients phone the Morecare number: 0800 622 6245. The telephone co-ordinator logs details of the request. A volunteer driver will contact the client and confirm details of the journey including pickup time etc.
Drivers receive requests via email and respond if they are able to do the journey, although there is no obligation or pressure. Drivers are advised when the journey has been allocated. The telephone co-ordinator tries to spread the jobs out fairly.
If you would like to be a volunteer driver you will need:
- A current driving licence
- Current vehicle tax & MOT
- Appropriate car insurance (ensure your insurance company is informed of your voluntary driving activity – there should be no extra cost)
